VOIEVOD Fighting

"When you fight only for yourself, you risk to become a prisoner of all" - Tudor Musatescu.

Moldovan national fight occurred centuries ago, being both a means of physical development of youth as well as preparing the armed forces. Archival materials and historical literature have highlighted the reality of certain technical processes, methods and tactics training for competitions. The documents studied here have pointed out that there were two variants of the national fights: with and without drag. In the northern part of Moldova they practice fight smoothly and in the center and south - was allowed to drag lock snap over legs and thighs. Of course, it lacked organized training instead the rules and technique were passed on from generation to generation.

In the ballad "Mihu Copilul " describes the distinctive features of the fight between the Hungarian Ianus and the Romanian Mihu: fighting gallantly by all the rules. Above all both fighters are at the table together, they toast, and then start fighting. Fight begins not without an audience, as the author says, the fight takes place on the ground, with application of different methods such as twist, impact, throwing, slamming.

In the novel of M. Sadoveanu "Nicoara Potcoava" describing the time of Stephen the Great, he reflects traditions according to which during the war, as to not destroy the whole army of the belligerent forces they choose the strongest men and they had to fight to decide the outcome of battles. Winners in the fight were winners in the war.

Another novel of M. Sadoveanu "Fratii Jderi" reflects one of the preferred processes of national fighting. Thus in the struggle between Ionel Par-Negru and the Turk Uzun-Slondimb, Ionel beat him using the Sheppard method: leaning back, throwing the opponent over the head, supporting him with his foot in his belly. In the days of celebration the boys would begin the daring games. In the beggining of the fight they would grab one another, with movements cross the belt, apply different methods of fight. They would lift one another, crouch, use their feet, jump.Bogdan Petriceicu Hajdau in "Ion Voda the Terrible" writes that Moldovans like pulling the bow and that in this art they would be second to English archers only, but still they preffered wrestling. Fighters applying such methods as drag, slam and the Sheppard (throwing over the head), that the fight took place directly on the ground with spectators, being accompanied by music and they not applied brutal and harsh methods. Competitions were held during popular and family holidays. They began as a spontaneous desire to measure forces and inventivness.

Moldovan National Fight appeared centuries ago in the work activity of people and has developed independently in various genuine forms, being both a means of physical development of youth as well as preparing the armed forces. Archive materials, historical and literary, helped solve the issues discussed on "trinta" (throwing to the ground) variants, some technical processes, tactics, training methods, training for competition, rules and conditions for organizing the competitions.

Thus, Voievod - is a combination of battle on sports Arenas and a system of self defence in moments of extremity. Also, the battle is a program of physical training for performance but also for the beginners. This style of combat focuses on the technique blows, function in the human biomechanics and the whole efficiency of a combination of several styles of fighting leading to improvement in the Moldovan battle techique "Voievod".
